PHILOSOPHY

The Roselle Park Social Studies Philosophy emphasizes the development of intellectual, social, moral, cultural and aesthetic values. Through a diversified program, students are given an opportunity to understand, interpret, and evaluate the vital forces in the global community. Opportunities are also provided to develop leadership skills to strengthen a respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, and encourage students to make intelligent, rational decisions in order to resolve personal and social problems and influence public policy.

REQUIREMENTS

Law requires all New Jersey school students, to complete two years of UNITED STATES HISTORY, and one year of WORLD HISTORY/CULTURES.

In order to fulfill the United States History requirement, all students must complete the UNITED STATES HISTORY I course and the UNITED STATES HISTORY II course. All ninth grade students are required to complete the WORLD HISTORY course. Social Studies Core Content Standards will be developed in these courses throughout the year.

Additional Social Studies electives may be taken by interested students during their sophomore, junior, and senior years.
