PHILOSOPHY
We believe that the study of a foreign
language plays an essential role in the intellectual development
and total enrichment of the individual. Also, foreign language study
contributes to the fulfillment of academic, vocational, and personal
goals. We furthermore believe that students should be provided the
means to pursue foreign language study to the extent that their
interests and abilities permit.
Our philosophy incorporates the following aims:
- To provide means for communication in
a second language.
- To add a new personal dimension within
the student by exposing him/her to the sounds, symbols, and
structure of a foreign language.
- To gain sympathetic understanding and
insight into the civilization of foreign peoples.
- To appreciate the universal ideas and
ideals of foreign nations and its people.
- To acquaint students with the unique
cultural traditions of the foreign countries.
-
To develop further
pursuit of the linguistic, literary, and cultural achievements
of foreign peoples after completion of high school.

Law requires all New Jersey
