Students throughout the state of NJ are invited to participate in the State Youth Art Month Design Contest.  Over 100 entries were received from throughout the state & judged on the theme- "Art: Create the Magic!"
Samantha Leinberger's design was chosen to represent the NJ State Youth Art Month button!

…approved a maternity leave of absence for Emilie Phillips (HS – English).  Best wishes as you await the birth of your child!

…accepted a donation of a Biodex Treadmill from Ivy Rehab, Union, to be used in the Middle School Life Skills Program.  Thank you for your generosity!

…discussed the status of the 2007-2008 budget.  The district is anxiously awaiting the announcement of state aid, as well as revised guidelines on preparing the budget for submission.  Using last year’s figures as a model, if rumors are true, and the tax levy (as opposed to the entire budget) can only increase by 4%, we are currently over $650,000 over budget.  The GOOD news is that this figure is down from where we started out several weeks ago, at $1.8 million over budget.  Look for more budget information in the near future!

On November 21, 2006 The Roselle Park Board of Education took the following actions:

…ratified the contract between the BOE and the RPEA and Custodial/Maintenance Unit effective July 1 2006 to June 30, 2009.  Congratulations to the entire district for a job well done!!(We are hoping to have retroactive pay included with your December 15 paycheck…thanks for your patience.)

…appointed Donna Zolli (HS – administrative aide), and asked Kiyomi Goto (HS – ESL) to share her much needed expertise with Aldene students as well.  Good luck in your new positions!

…authorized the District to apply for a $300,000 grant entitled, "After Three," which will provide after school activities for approximately 200 students in grades 5-8 for the 05-06 school year.

…accepted the lowest responsible bid of $9,614,816 for construction/renovation projects at the Middle School, Robert Gordon, and EJF-Aldene. Groundbreaking is anticipated sometime this December!

…amended, with input from students, the high school dress code to permit the wearing of shirts no longer than mid-thigh in length.

…awarded bids to begin re-roofing Roselle Park High School. Construction is slated to begin June 21 and be completed by August 15. We can't wait!!

On December 2, 2003, The Roselle Park Board of Education took the following action:

…unanimously approved a resolution stating that they shall terminate the Referendum Project, regardless of passage by voters, should state funding fail to materialize.

The purpose of this resolution is to allay the fears of some residents that should the state, however unlikely, fail to deliver on its promise, the District would pass along the entire $13.2 million project to the taxpayers. As we've said all along…no state $$ = no referendum. If you know anyone who still has doubts, tell them to call the superintendent's office, and he'll be happy to send them a copy of the resolution.


On November 18, 2003, The Roselle Park Board of Education took the following actions:

…appointed Jeannine Grasso as Middle School Principal, effective February 1, 2003. Starting out from one of 59 candidates, Jeannine ran the "gauntlet," enduring three separate interviews. The Board's decision was unanimous. Congratulations and best wishes for success in your new position!
